ebenezer : Stone of help, the place where Samuel erected a monument, in grateful remembrance of the divine help, given in answer to prayer, in a great battle with the Philistines. The same place had before witnessed the defeat of Israel and the capture of the ark, 1 Samuel 4:1; 5:1; 7:5-12.

Several years ago I was encouraged to keep track of my "ebenezers": metaphorical stones marking a path of promises kept, a history remembered, of God's faithfulness. I haven't yet set up those stones, but I do have a different sort of ebenezer.
The prayer letter.
I've been spending a bit of time poring over those letters. Prayers asked and answered, babies born, a windy road towards Ireland and back, opportunities to love and to serve and to wait on Him, mercies new every morning. So amazing that He called us to this, and so many amazing ways He's provided. I'm so glad I have this paper trail of ebenezers cluttering my desk and my hard drive. So thankful to have been able to share them with you along the way, even if it meant a little extra clutter on your desk or hard drive. Sorry about that.
